11 August – My current Journey

Well, I’m still not far from my starting point. Right now, my investment is still on Mutual fund (including ASB). Talking about ASB, I just opened my account 2 days ago at Maybank Branch. I will reduce my monthly contribution in Public Mutual’s Funds, and give a larger percentage to ASB. This is to build a larger foundation (less risky investment) in my portfolio. One more reason is, I don’t have the access to my Public Mutual when I’m in oversea. Thus Public Mutual is a bit riskier for me.

I’m trying to find some books on Real Estate investment. If you have some books that you want to recommend for me, don’t forget to leave me your comment.

    Dear Irwan,

I’m interested in ASB and have read your previous entries about ASB. I have a few questions for you:-

    1) How can I add money to my ASB account when I’m in the United States? Can I do it online?

    2) What is the usual annual dividend for ASB? You mentioned 7% in one of your previous post. Is this the usual rate?

    3) Whatabout Bank Islam? Somene told me that Bank Islam gives higher dividend than ASB, sometimes up to 35%. Is this true?

Ok thanx. Sorry banyak tanya, baru lepas exam…. So rajin sikit nak berfikir heheheh :)

    Dear Ummi,
    thanks for your questions.

    1) as far as i know, there is no other way to deposit money to asb besides autowithdrawal and manual deposit. What will I do is to make an autowithdrawal instruction from my Maybank Account every month. You can do the same thing. I think most of the banks in malaysia can do autowithdrawal. If you want, I can help you to transfer from USD to RM.

2)it’s around 8-7% recently… i tried to search for complete history rate on the net, but failed.

    3) i never heard about bank islam. is it unit trust from bank islam or what?

ill try to find out more about bank islam…
