ASB Calculator v2
Written by Irwan on January 29, 2007 – 8:10 pmupdate: ASB Calculator V3 is now available
My last ASB calculator doesn’t calculate the bonus for ASB. In this new version, I implemented an extra algorithm to include the bonus. If you find any glitch or error, please let me know

Irwan,
I think there’s a small mistake on your bonus calculation in which u use 13 months instead of 12. e.g. the bonus for the first year should be $200

why dont you calculate using the ‘islamic’ interest. the flat interest rate charged regardless the economic condition. it might be higher during the ‘good’ condition but the interest rate would remain the same during flactution course

Dear Irwan,
I took ASB loan after calculating whether I’ll loose or earn. Found out that I’ll earn ONLY if payment term is short. Eg: If you are ready to pay RM200 per month, look at the ASB loan chart and choose the shortest loan term (eg: 5 years for Maybank?) and look at the amount of $$ you should be loaning from the bank.
Maybank Yourself will be making money from your combined investment. Make sense?

my culculation
if u saving 115 per month
1 year = 1380
dividen = unknown because some of ur saving still not anough 1 year to entitle the dividen
ASB load 15k for 20 years
monthly payment 115
1years = 1380
dividen = around 1300
the trick here.. only few people sign agreement for 20 year and they pay until 20 year
but most of them only pay until 3 to 5 year only
that what i was been told by that bank officer
i was about to cancel that ASB loan also at that time and he told me about this story
people only care about the dividen.. if u willing to pay higher.. take bigget acct.. dont care 10 years or 20 years..
after 3 to 5 year just cancel the aggrement..
i take 20k 20k total 40k
why not sum of 40K
that officer told me.. if let say something happen.. u got problem with ur financial.. u can cancel 1 acct and just continue with 1 acct only.. =)
if u hav time.. think about it
correct me if i’m wrong Irwan.. dont know someone get into trouble just because of wat if hv post here.. want to share only.. thinking to topup my investment lsomeday.. khi3
i dont hv capital to invest in unit trust or something else.. at least i can invest with ASB..khi3

kalau tak complete loan payment tu, kita cuma dapat total amount yang kita dah bayar je kan?
[Reply]
March 8th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
nope… tak semua.. kene tolak interest bank.. but still ok..campur dividen tahunan lagi..still masih berbaloi
kat bawah ni..culculation from my last acct
15k for 20years pay 115 monthly
when i cancel last month, i got rm2000 ( 2040.90 )
******************************************************************
month year dividen
7 - 12 2004 570
1 - 12 2005 1100
1 - 12 2006 1200
1 - 12 2007 1200
1 - 2 2008 ??
total dividen = 4070
my return = 4070 2000 = 6070
pay to bank for 44 month = 115 * 44 = 5060
clean cut 6070 - 5060 = 1010
******************************************************************
nampak kita baya interest tu banyak kan
aper boleh buat.. kita meminjam dgn bank.. that the cost we hv to pay
yes… u can saving monthly basis, but make sure discipline urself

tapi i rasa.. kalau yer pon ada yg opt to buat monthly basis and how dicipline ur self is.. but dividen n bonus kalau simpan “dikit..dikit” tak la dpt full div n bonus kalau kita dump whole sum of yg kita pinjam.. i would say that package asb-maybank..is good, save time to keluar dan menyimpan and dpt full div n bonus.

oh ye..nasib baik saya jumpa web ni..terima kasih irwan…banyak yang berbicara tentang asb loan nih..ada yang kata rugi dan ada yang kata untung..kalau ikutkan banyak faedah ..rugi tetap ada..tapi nak untung kena disiplin bayar tiap-tiap bulan…sy pun tak banyak pengalaman ..baru mula 2 tahun lepas…

option aku mudah aje.. loan dgn bank then for the first year spend ur own pocket money for installment then the rest spend ur dividend utk bayar installment..
for example:
loan RM30K for 20yrs
let say average of monthly payment is RM206
let say average dividen + bonus is 10%
option 1:
———
Pelaburan Asal + (Dividen & Bonus@10% ) x 20years = RM201825.00
Perbelanjaan Pelaburan from ur own pocket (206 x 12 x 20) = RM49440
Bersih = RM152385.00
Our margin from spending RM49440 from our own pocket to get the RM201825.00 after 20 years is 308.22%
option 2:
———
Pelaburan Asal + (Dividen & Bonus@10% - installment for 2nd year and subseq yers) X 20years = RM62713.20
Perbelanjaan Pelaburan from ur own pocket (206 x 12 x 20) = RM2472 (for the first year only)
Bersih = RM60241.20
Our margin from spending RM2472 from our own pocket to get the RM62713.20 after 20 years is 2436.94%
TO ME, I PREFER OPTION NUMBER 2, THEN TRY GET HIGHEST LOAN AMOUNT AS POSSIBLE.
OPTION 1 PENAT LA… BAIK KELUAR DUIT POKET SENDIRI SPEND UTK BENDA LAIN UTK INVESTMENT.. BELI GOLD KE BUAT SAVING…

Bagus idea tu, biar dividen +bonus yang bayar installment. Tapi semua bank ke bagi option tu? Which bank give the best interest rate right now?
