Corelle – A perfect gift for mom?

I’m not a kind of person who regularly gives his mother a present. So I had a hard time to find at least an acceptable gift for her before I get back home for summer holiday.I happened to hear that other students were busy hunting for Corelle set of dinnerware.

Never in my life I heard about this brand name, but insufficient of time forced me to join the rush for Correle set. With a horde of friends, I went to Woodbury outlets for a session of Correle hunting. We spent almost 8 hours there. There are so many brand shops there. The area is big and it’s like a small town to me. We had a really good time there. After a long shopping for jeans and t-shirt, we headed to our last destination, the Corelle shop. I bought a squared version exactly like the picture below:
Corelle

One thing that they don’t tell me is that dinnerset should be bought in 2 set or more. Especially if we are going to use it in ceremonies like wedding and party. Without knowing that, I happily bought 1 set and later knowing that it’s barely enough for dinner use.

One thing that dissappointed me was the quality is not as expected. The simple line is either deliberately made that way or there was not enough colour to make it solid. The line looks like it has been scratched. And it is like that on all plates. So i take it as on purpose. However, the Corelle set is made by high quality material. It has different kind of shine compared to other dinnerset that somehow lights up Corelle exclusivity.

In conclusion, Corelle is still a good set despite some inperfection in my set and has many beautiful design which can be seen @ cooking.com. I listed some designs that I like:

I went on a Corelle hunt a month ago at a factory outlet but couldn’t find any Corelle. And I almost forgot it. Now that you’ve reminded me, maybe I’ll just buy online. Is pricegrabber.com a good place to look for dinnerware bargains?

Last time I use air mail, i took about 1 month to reach malaysia. i wonder how long it would take if it is a ground shipping. may all the best be with you Kev.

I also thought of buying those pinggan mangkuk for my mom, but different brand; Corning Ware…but after a long thought, x jadi coz it was too difficult to carry it along, and it was just too late to tumpang the senior’s kontena… nevertheless, the most precious gift that I gave is my presence beside her, I think…( poyo tak?? haha)

Yes Irwan, oh how I love to recall on those “Corelle-Corning Ware- Noritake Days” when we there. You just can’t get that exact “tingling joy” on buying dinner sets as you get when you’re buying them here at home. I’m not into collecting dinner sets but somehow you’ll be driven once u’re at the factory outlets over there – sabo je lah!

Comment (s) on the design you chose (the one with the lines):
the design is simple & unique with a pinch of sophistication! personally, kak aida feels that’s it’s a good choice…unless if your mom prefers a more elaborate one!

we really had a good time enjoying the whole 8 hours in that outlets. Missing our first train, solat at the empty backside of a shop, shopping from the sun up till it vanished to the horizon, made this a great experience to us. Plus with a countryside atmosphere, Woodbury is simply stunning. Just make sure you don’t go there on holiday, coz there will be lot of people and you can’t even see your next step..haha

corelle is definnitely a good choice. generally moms love correlle. but i personally think your choice of design is too ‘manly’ and too ‘abstract’ for a mom. Unless ur mom prefers those. nevertheless, i take corelle any day!
