Insult my mom and have a headbutt – Zidane
There are a lot of rumors lingering about Zidane headbutting Materazzi in his final match of his career. This 34-year old player has enough maturity to justify what he have done in that match. Most of the news across the net-sphere reported that Materazzi has insulted Zidane’s ill mother, Malika, which was admitted to hospital because of illness prior to that incident.
Besides the involved parties, no one know for sure what was actually happened that night, but some people might have some opinions:
“After an exhaustive study of the match video, and with the help of an Italian translator, Jessica Rees, a lip-reader hired by The Times, claimed Materazzi called Zidane ‘the son of a terrorist whore’ before adding ‘so just f*** off’ for good measure,” – The Times
While The Daily Mail, also reached the same conclusion with it’s unnamed lip-reader.
A lip readers for Brazil’s Globo television concluded Materazzi had told Zidane his sister was a “prostitute”. – The Independent
Materazzi apparently called Zidane a “dirty terrorist”, citing “several very well informed sources from the world of football”. – Paris-based anti-racism group SOS Racisme
“If you insult Zidane’s mother you are asking for trouble. Combine such words with a reference to terrorism, which French Algerians are very sensitive about, and a violent reaction might appear inevitable.�? -A French Football Federation
Materazzi however, denied that he has insulted Zidane with the term ‘terrorist’ and he added he would never insult anyone’s mother for to him, mother is sacred.
