It’s quite disappointing that after a long, hopeful waiting, Iphone 3G won’t be officially launched in Malaysia. It’s sadder still, our southern neighbor, Singapore, is included in the official release soon. Heck, even Botswana is included.
However, as we already know, Malaysia is full of dedicated Iphone bringers. I myself will try my best to fulfill Malaysian’s hunger of these ’Twice as fast. Half the price’ Iphone. I’ll update with the link to my bulk later.
Update: Many news confirm that activation for the Iphone will be on the spot. Meaning they won’t let you leave the store if you don’t activate your phone. At the moment, there is possible way for me to conduct my bulk yet.
Even more Update: The best place to get Iphone is New Zealand as its iphones are officially unlocked. So no need warranty-voiding hack or sim-adapter hassle. However the price is not very nice and friendly now as it’s retailed at 979NZD and 1129NZD for 8gb and 16gb respectively.

All i know is that the iphone is attach to specific provider like AT & T. However, my friend from australia told me that they charge AUS 80 to unlock the iphone but still bind with a stupid 2 yrs contract. So its pointless to buy oversea and bring it back. By the way, yeerock, RM 2850 for 8gb is absurd. However, there are still some rich malaysian that can afford ur price and my friend actually paid 3k for the first iphone last year…cheers.

Here is some insider news. As of today, the iPhone 3G is looking good to reach Malaysian shores. It will be tied to a carrier. It’s not the carrier that everybody thinks it is. It’s either yellow or blue. Green no go!
All i can say is that don’t sign up with a commitment plan yet. For those who already have, start asking you provider how to get out of it.
News should start coming in around a months time.

I’ve seen lots of local sites claiming that they have iphone 3g unlocked and ready to sell. I find it quite dodgy and it could be a scam.
The only hope at the moment is to wait for local mobile companies to offer it officially in a bundling plan. Hopefully not tied with a super expensive one. Just in case you didn’t know, there’s a petition at http://www.iphone3gformalaysia.com which aims to have the 3G Iphone in Malaysia.

FYI, i have checked ebay international for an iphone from new zealand. it costs NZ dollar 1100 which translates to RM 2650. this does not include taxes and delivery charges. all-in-all, i would say it would cost us iphone-lovers RM 2800 at the most. and comment no 67 from Soo Pei has said that iphone will imminently and eventually come to malaysia. an ‘insider’ told her that. so, weight your options. till next time… bye…

its usd299 (rm 1000) in US, to hack it might cost rm200 extra (the most). and they selling rm almost rm5K per piece????? its too much. especially when the 3G one is much cheaper than previous model. i got mine (non 3G) for rm1900 early this year.the 3G should b cheaper. would love to have the 3G but the price is nonsense… luckily my brother is coming back from US. gonna ask him to buy me one and hack it myself. dont wanna contribute to this cut throat business.

just surfing around the websites to know how to unlocked iphone. found this website. and i just read those comments above.
im a malaysian and i just bought iphone 3g 16g at london, 02 store for GBP410 includes 02 simpack as u need to pay extra GBP10 for the simpack. yes u can buy iphone down there as they have d “pay and go” plan. but there is a catch! u wouldnt have the warranty of the iphone if u do unlocking. i think most of u may know about it anyway.
i do my unlocked at london. but it didnt works as when i reached malaysia few days ago. so i have to do my unlocked in malaysia which is VERY EXPENSIVE! in lowyatt @ sg wang. the cheapest ive got is rm380 and the most expensive is rm500. they have 2 type of unlocked. 1 with d sim and 1 wif the phone itself. i heard rumors that until now they didnt found any ways to unlocked the iphone without using the sim. im not sure about it as i have sent my iphone to the shop to do the unlocking for me. quite scared rite now! tmrw i will get my iphone from them and hope it wud works!
for the software, my sis did it in malaysia with 2.1 version but her software cant load at all. only for a day.
as for me, im quite dissapointed actually for having this iphone coz its just a rumours that it is really good. but after having it and using it, its not that good. my advice, u must really know how to use it as it will only be a simple tool if u dunno how to utilise it.
