Iphone Hack : Succeed
Iphone is a very magnificent little device. However, being bonded to AT&T carrier crushes many of people’s desire to own an Iphone.
Just after the release of easy unlocking method, I rushed into AT&T store to purchase one.
I spent one evening to figure out the way to unlock the phone. Even it’s easy, there is a vast area of unknowns to me. I don’t even know how to upgrade the firmware and I almost bricked my phone by stopping it while upgrading. Luckily, everything finally come to pieces. After several restoration process, I managed to unlock it.
Now I can use other carrier in my Iphone including Maxis. Nice!

yeah. But my result is slightly pelik:
Call in: yes
Call out: no
Sms in:yes
sms out:no
but i’m using maxis in the US. so you might get different mileage.

in malaysia maxis still don’t accept call in. I’m roaming in the us.that’s why i can accept call in.

Just unlocked my iphone today. I also experienced the same problem with call in using Maxis. Should have googled before I bought the phone. Sigh!
Any idea if the unlocked iphone works better with the other carriers?

it just got problem with maxis. other carrier should be fine. but some celcom simcard cannot be detect. but here is workaround for it:
Okay, 1st step put atnt sim card (or any working simcard, digi, maxis) n power on.. Wait until it got some signal bar / no service display..
2. Go to setting, carrier. If will search for network. (if no carier show, go back home and wait a while). wait till all 3 network found.
3. Press power buttonto put iphone on standy .
4. Replace the simcard with celcom.
5. Press power button. You will see the network list. Choose celcom and press home button..

Worked with DIGI prepaid 
but having to give up my long standing Maxis number may be a deal maker. Oh well there is always eBay and such.
One minor issue – the iphone sometimes connect to a wireless network but is unable to obtain a valid ip address from dhcp.
Anyone encounter this problem before ?

i gues it might not be DHCP .. may be the router is limited to give DHCP for limilted clinets ..
u can always enter the ip in static.. itll work .. it the ip is in line wid da DHCP ..
n chek for the wirless reception

Yes it does work when you enter a fixed ip.
Re the DHCP issue, the router in the office is configured to give out 10 addresses with MAC filter enabled. The MAC of the iPhone is entered correctly and we have less than 10 computers in the office. So who knows ! Anyway its only a minor issue.
I must say though I am getting quite attached to the iPhone. I just wish that the Maxis call in problem is solved soon.

isn’t it expensive to be using roaming? everytime i go abroad, i dread receiving my maxis bill. the international roaming charges makes me wanna faint.

I just got my iPhone working without unlocking process. DIGI and Celcom works except Maxis can’t get call-in.
I use a Singapore SIM card to try on three network too. Same, Maxis just can’t reach the iPhone.
Technology too high, MAXIS can’t follow… Haha… Kidding!
Features not really good on iPhone. Everything is great but Phone Features like SMS and Phone Calls.

Was at Low Yat Plaza over the weekend. Found 2 shops selling it. RM2,500 and RM2,650. If you can get someone to buy an unlocked phone from Europe, it’ll be a safer bet. You don’t need to play cat and mouse with Apple each time they lock you out.

The French ones will be unlocked and will be on sale starting Nov 29 but no idea on how much it will cost.
So far, I see no reason upgrading to any firmware other than 1.1.1 so you can choose not to play the Tom and Jerry game for a while.

Nah…phone must be unlocked. I think MAS is using an unlocked phone roaming from Singapore into Malaysia.

hi irwan, got a problem with my iphone, it was fine yesterday but after reloading credit to DIGI it can’t call out but manage to receive every other things. any idea what happened?

I have my iphone with celcom 3G card. Have try the matter of use others sim card to start then swap to celcom 3G again after select My Celcom.
The problem is.. after sometime(normally 30min) i will get no service at the status..
Any idea on how this ?

Just back from celcom.. you can change from 3G to 2G.. can’t download.
But what you can do is.. celcom the current account and re-register and choose back the same phone number and a 2G package.

my iphone work with all sim including 3g card
and i’m using the very latest firmware 2.1 that I Unlock, jaibreak and Activate myself soo far soo good and i did installed cydia, installer 4 & app Store in this firmware. I have a bunch of app store game and application that work flawleslly with this firmware yep..i as well can sync with latest itunes 8 without crash on application, chram rite….hehe

i recently restored and updated my iphone to 2.1 firmware,i managed to jailbreak my iphone,unlocked it.im using maxis,after i’ve done with jailbreaking,my signal show nothing/no service.it also shows no carrier section in the general settings..
please help…

u can put ur iphone on the box again lar jong..keep ur eye on devteam blog..when they release 5.09 to 6.04 bootloader unlock software then u can use ur iphone again…before they release the software u can use ur iphone to be ipod or psp

I unintentionally upgraded my iphone when I was prompt to do so during sync with itunes. My iphone screwed-up since then. Went to the shop where I bought but they can do nothing. Lucky I still keep my old Nokia9100i with all contacts. I still have the AT&T simcard. Like Saiful, I really need my iphone back.What should we do? Pls advise.

finally got it working wonderfully…
1.get pwnage 2.1 tools,install to your mac
2.open library/itunes/mobiledevice – delete the file inside it
3.open pwnage 2.1,follow all the requirements,just google for tutorials
4.during the process,answer ‘NO’ if your phone has been pawned before.
5.get your phone in DFU mode.
6.open itunes 8,restore it to your custom firmware.ipsw(remember to learn the tutorials first yeah)
7.let it run by itself.
8.voila,ur iphone is yours again man..

guys.. i’m so new to iphone and apple stuff.. so when i doing synchronize i accidentally press update. then its install the new updated firmware to my iphone, however, since that i cant enter my iphone and only able to go emergency call screen. i cant even go the spring board. are there any solution to my problem since the iphone ask me to enter sim card and i obviously dont have any at&t simcard with me

Are there any shop that doing activation and do anyone know how much they charge?

no services sebab kaw nya bootloader dah upgrade 5.09 atau 6.04 so kepada yg blom upgrade ke 3.0 atau pon 3.1 nya os lebey baik takyah upgrade dulu kecuali kalau dah ada unlock untuk bootloader version tu.kalau korang dah terupgrade mcm mr dookie korang dah bley simpan iphone tu dulu dalam kotak dia balik
