I’ve heard many people congratulating Proton for finally listen to its customers. And here is my congratulation post for Proton for finally being able to produce a car that I’m proud of.
I just had my experience with the car in flesh at Perkampungan Hadhari in Kota Bharu yesterday. I really like the new refreshing color of Ribenaberries (Blueberry Tea). I’m glad that they chose that color for the exhibition. The fact that the color is being offered just to the top of the line models adds to its exclusiveness.
I heard people said Persona is just a Gen2 with boot. I thought the boot would only increase the trunk space just by a little, but I was surprised that when they said spacious, it’s really really space-ious. A great feature for family sedan.
Aside from improved overall quality, Persona also comes with affordable price. Just like what my auntie said, Persona is not just with its look, the price is also a persona (attraction). With 10% down payment, monthly payment for the top of the line model(yeah, the one with remote-controlled trunk) is just RM623. Not bad.
I regret that I didn’t bring my camera with me. If I did, this post would be full of pictures of me and the ribenaberries Persona.

Actually proton does cekik darah. well the concept is getting better because they dont have a choice thats wat their sepos to do, its just that they are still slow. Malaysian cars can be way cheaper if this is all we get trust me and to me this is the least problem the people are mistreated with.. no offence this is my home and where i want to die but with this mindset, move strategies, concept of government and leaders we all will be murdered sooner or later. we are over due if u ask me.. and heres somethings from the insights with all this years and after calculations, malaysian cars can actually be sold for RM2000 new and they will face no loss. too good to be true? if you have a brother who wouldnt lie and is in high post and who has a good calculation ask him to check it out with the papers. Seriously you got to burn money for them to disapear. Good luck Malaysia!

Saya baru je beli Persona highline 1.6 auta pada 30 jun 09 dan bila saya check semua aksesori, dua benda saya tak jumpa. 1. Navigator system dan 2. Palam pencucuh api (rokok)
Bila saya tanya salesman, dia kata terlupa nak bagi Navigator system.Dia juga kata kereta persona memang tak de Palam pencucuh api (rokok).Betul ke ini ? tolong explain kat saya kalau ada brother brother yand ada same model ngan saya.
Saya juga dapati bumper belakan tak dilekat rapat-rapat, macam skru tak ada.Bila saya tanya salesman, dia suruh saya bawa service center…leceh betul lah.
Tapi overall saya puas dengan kereta persona sebab berbaloi wang saya…cuma ada masalah kecik kecik je yang buat saya tension…

proton natural defects is quality issue after 3-6 years sure have.(depends your luck)

you bought car not drive for 2 weeks, 2 month or 2 yrs.and for those buy persona and pay 7-9 yrs loan. this is not encourage.
fuel consumption is important. engine life also , proton engine always happen over heating after couple of years.
and suspension problem starting too.. like bust,lower arm,water pump, meter not working. etc.

Hi all,
I felt disappointmented about persona. Because as i understand petrol full tank is 50 lite mean based on current price is about RM90 for full tank but my persona even i drive until calculation of the petrol is show “—” but i only can fill about 36 to 37 lite and then full cannot already. I wonder this 50 lite is true?
I tested to fill about RM68 about 35 lite and travel from Muar to KL and back half-way about 400 and estimate still can run 50km. Based on this calculation the petrol is about 1.5 it is quite expensive which most of time i run in highway.
And my air-con also got funny funny sound.
I really really felt sad to proton.

Just some thoughts about Proton car models and it’s brand: think that this car manufacturer has done it’s best to promote different car models and due to the its small distribution, it’s not able to finance better designers to work on the aesthetics of their car…or at least it seems so to me. Certainly, when compared to Japanese cars or European cars, Proton is still far off, yet I feel that they’ve owned their niche very well and have even got a small acceptance in the overseas market. I believe Proton does not intend to be a world leading car manufacturer as they do not invest heavily in R&D, and most of their major car parts are adopted from proven technologies bought from other auto giants.

Guys,
Today is the 4th month of my car MLine 9000km, the experience were:
1. In around 1000km, driver’s door and right passenger door suddenly opened by itself when driving. First time was the passenger door on the highway just before Jelapang toll construction north bound, and the driver’s door on kampung Bachok, Kelantan road. Lucky got the safety lock half way door opened.
2. Had complained to Proton Edar service during 5000km service about the doors, but mechanic cannot find fault. Suddendly after drove for less than 5km after left the service centre, the driver’s door opened again when driving normal road at Bukit Kemuning Shah Alam. Whatthe….
3. Last few days, realized the next/skip button on steering was doing changing Mode to CD/Radio, it was working fine before.
4. Cracking loud sound on right front when bumped on even small hole or making turn.
5. Shaking mirrors. Any ideas on fixing this?

if you go persona (what ever line) better go vios j type.
can enjoy low interest,no small part failure issue.
fuel consumption guanrantee lower than proton engine. somemore proton engine normaly up to 5-7 years will facine over heating. then suspension problem. all this problem will cost you money. and not guarantee after changed can tahan how long.perhap few month or lucky 1 1/2 years.
persona outlook can cheat consumer but their quality issue is forver have.

for those who want to buy persona, car loan should not above 5 years. because after 4-5 years, the small small part starting cost you money..

Your feedback is not 100% correct..it all depends on how the car is maintain..i have more than 2 national car and its more than 5 years and yet the performance is much good…I even have friends and family members who are using proton persona more than 2 years and it seems to be running cool.Imported cars are good in away as it is expensive and malaysian cars such as persona is better and doing better now.Malaysian cars are manufactured to meet the local people needs as it is affordable and not everyone can buy imported cars as it is expensive compare to our local made cars.
I think we should encourage our national car and those who wants to buy persona, its better for u to do survey rather than listening to what people say..try to approach those who are already using persona and ask them..even i will say go for it..it is really worth it …..

you got 2 national car which above 5 years, and persona 2 years.
i got 12 years old proton wira.
the car problem started 7 years old. and my wira is consider good QC because my wira manufacture year is 1997 at that time proton still partner with mitshubishi.
but now i sold it and buy city. at 1st i not want to sell it.but i cant tahan every month change part cost me few hundreds. in this few years i had changed suspension parts, air cond parts, radiator system , top overhaul.
body start leaking. rear boot enter rainwater tru rear lamp gasket.actually 12years old car is not that old.
if we see other japanese car. they dont have this small ill happen.
No..foreigner car is quality is not because expensive. what the price now is because after those duty tax by our good government.
city , vios can deal in below 70k if less some duty tax

Anyway imported cars are better in quality terms and if you compare proton cars..the proton cars are still slightly behind due to the QC (quality control)…but i beleive our national car will be in good level soon or later..by the way Daniel thx for your comments and hope you can advice on how we tackle issue on our proton cars in terms of faulty parts since you already have proton car which is older than mine.i also wanted to buy a honda at first place,but after considering, eventually i bought proton persona.yet no regret as life goes on…

My Persona is 6mths old..i had this cranking sound each time i went over a bump. Recently it got worst..my last service (5k) the mechanic at the SC said they are unable to fix it n ask me to go to one of those major proton SC to rectify it… any u guys have the same problem? is it really repairable? Pls share, thanks!

Mine also got that sound, right front side, maybe somewhere inside the body. Ever told to mechanic, he said already tighten something, but then still got the sound.. not yet go for further check though..

sigh, yes mine also from the front right. My area SC’s mechanic did do some works on it but still the sound persist and my subsequent visit they just take the easy way out by refering me to some major SC in Bandar Utama area…sigh i suppose this so call small sc earn much more in an hr doing normal servicing then solve my problem…

I do not understand what is Proton doing.
If crime is rising and car thefts are increasing, why put in a GPS system (B-SMart) that will drain your car battery in one week?
Is Syed Zainal thnking properly or does he have a hidden agenda?

Problem with Msian products especially cars is the volume.. it is not that proton makers dont wanna make it cheap but local material that made our proton is a tad more expensive than what we wanted it more to be. Foreign cars got volume on their side thus making it possible to make it a little cheaper.. Yes the tax imposed doe makes the price higher.. but buddy, nothing is cheap nowadays..
But it is your choice.. foreign cars is better than our local cars no doubt.. but if i buy local, i would support the supporting industries for proton which is out other local companies.. i wouldn’t be surprised if you work for one of this company..
I believe our local products including proton has potential to go far.. and as a Malaysian i would certainly do my part to support it and suggest improvement for them to do that.

the persona is impressive in many ways, however, it has it weaknesses just like any other car.i could have bought a vios or a new city but i when for a persona coz it is as good, and its obviously cheaper.. the car is damn good and the so call ‘noises’ cant make it any less. the performance of the 1.6 iafm auto engine is excellent. fuel consumtion for a 1.6 a very good. i really dont know what are they complaining about?
i took the car for a test after the ‘pantang’ period. KL to Bentong in 40 min at an average of 120 km/h. the gear up shift was excellent, all though the down shift is probably 0.0005 sec slower or a tad slower. but it goes unnotice after a while.top speed for that drive was 170 km/h. it was a great running in test drive. the suspension is great. check it out, i was driving with both my mum and dad in the car and my mum was like sound a sleep at the back.
that goes to proof that the proton persona is a beautiful car people..

hmmm, baru keluar my persona,
1st day masa test drive dah boleh dengar air cond punya bunyi macam tikus , masa tanya sale gal tu, terus suruh gua bawa pi utk service, hellllooo kereta baru gua bawa for less the 5min ler, aduhi tension , k tak pa tu satu kes, then masa balik try wipper , air wipper tak keluar pulak, hmm no choice dah next day pi service center, mamat tu dtg and ketuk something kat bawa kereta tu then air wipper keluar, tanya pasai air cond noise, dia kata normal benda tu, WTF right, k nvm la, then went for 1st service , then try long way drive to KL,notice that masa bawa kereta on highway about 140KM, the stering macam too easy to move around, not like my dads waja, heavy and can knw that u are still on control when driving fast also, but persona macam driving on the angin, naik kia masa bawa the persona tu.and do any of u guys knw where to update the GPS map thing?till today i think GPS is kind of crap, one day i tested it and then i took a short cut terus GPS tu senyap nvr mention anything else after i took the short cut, damn pening also ler.but overall i am ok with the car ler, just kind of down when a new car start to give problem as fast as this even it is small issues.and i notice the car engine , mak ai sound macam kapal terbang so loud certain time, and i notice da car got makan minyak also ler hmm but surely better the my dad’s waja ler,

I also had the problem with the aircond after 1 month using the car. When i brought the car to the service center the tecnician mentioned its due to the aircond host pipe..they mentioned that they need to order the parts and will replace for free. I have being using national cars all my life..from perodua and proton. I love this proton persona, its an ideal car indeed. I am using a manual and the fuel consumption is ok. Superb car and no complain. Maintenance is within my budget. Good work Proton!

Kumar, aku stay kat utara malaysia. aku pasang dvd player with screen kat seblah penumpang (pengadang cahaya matahari tu). Beli dan pasang dekat kedai area Kulim last year RM288. Aku pasang pasal nak handle anak2 dalam kereta. Anyway kalau sen ko byk, aku suggest ko pasang kat bhg bawah radio kereta siap GPS. Mungkin lebih kurang RM1600 kot or murah lagi. aku pakai persona h-line dari november 2007, masalah yg dhadapi ialah, power window rosak, lampu gear tak lagi menyala, tudung minyak patah, remote trank tak lagi berfungsi, susah start enjin sbab stering selalu tiba2 jam.
bagi yang ada persona, tutup tangki mesti letak gris supaya tak patah. mula2 tutup tangki rasa ketat tu sebenarnya engsel tak bergerak, yang bergerak adalah besi penahan lama2 buka tutup tu yang patah.

hi, aku baru pakai viva full spec kaler oren sejak january 2010. bumbung leaking masa hujan atau basuh – dah repair. radio kereta rosak- dah siap repair, tapi blum ambik lagi pasal aku masih kat italy. mmm…harap tak dak lagi masalah lain. anyway viva sangat jimat kalau jalan2 dalam pekan. untuk perjalanan jauh, hati aku masih dengan PERSONA B-LINE kesayangan aku tuh…heheh. Sampai sekarang dah 2 tahun pakai, aku dapati minyak semakin jimat. untuk tank penuh kereta aku boleh pi sampai 500 lebih km berbanding dulu. aku memang selalu hantar servis kat EON. Tak berani aku hantar dekat kedai bukan2. pilih spanar pun salah. ngeri2…

Nak minta nasihat daripada anda yang pernah mengalami bunyi squeky dekat dashboard/aircond. Bunyi itu hanya kedengaran bila jalan tak rata.

saya punya pun sama bunyi dari jaring/lubang aircon,(Proton edar beritahu)sebab tu kta baru bulat je bentuknya,hentak sikit dboard tu hilang lah bunyinya.

Sorry, to said the ture, I still think Perodua car are all better than Proton xxxx. Cus I am proton owner too. I found many problem on my car after a year later. And the service center staff can’t help any to repair. I buy proton cus is only cheap. Currently my brother driving myvi he said the car is best, the engine sound is soomth on problem at all. Its because Perodua had very good Q.C from japan. -\-; Why proton just can’t do better like that. Pls. think before you buy a proton xxxx. TH.
