Robotic gift for my mom

So it happens to be the time to get back to Malaysia again. I don’t have the time for Corelle hunt this time. So I thought of something that my mom would like, or might like (but I like it alot, lol). Guess what I bought for her? ROommmba.

Roomba Discovery Scheduler Irobot
What roomba suppose to do is to automatically clean floor without any human assistance. I get the one with scheduler. This version will on itself on schedule, clean the floor and get back to its home base to charge when it finishes. You have the freedom to schedule what day and when to clean. The scheduler can have unique schedule for each day for the whole week.

(Video after jump)

The retail price for the roomba is $$329.99 but I got it half price from woot.com. The robot comes with 2 virtual wall, remote control and one spare filter.

We suppose to charge the roomba for 16 hours before first use, but I dispatched it to work after 4 hours. Don’t blame me, who doesn’t get excited with vacuuming robot?

I can say that the robot are doing pretty good job. I stopped him in the middle of clean cycle to have a look at his dustbin. I was surprised it was nearly full. It was not because the bin is small, but my room haven’t been vacuum for months. Haha we are talking about rumah bujang here.

So far, I’m pretty satisfied with his performance. I just hope he will work much longer than his 90 days warranty. Oh, if my mom doesn’t like it, or, she doesn’t know how to use it, or she prefer to use vacuum, I’ll gladly take this back to US.haha. Btw, my room for next semester is twice as big, so roomba will come handy for me.

Here is the video for it:

These things are great. They seem to not last too long and have a few mechanical problems, but when they are working are the true lazy mans tool. They take the pain out of house work.
