GET QUOTEI just realized that after so many times checking in the past, my pagerank is 4 already. When I was starting this blog, I always check my PageRank and it was 0 all the times. I received an email offering free links at PR4 site. Out of my curiosity, I visited http://www.checkpagerank.com/ to check my current PR and to my surprise, google has knighted my blog as PR4! Check my newly-added PR checker at bottom-right of this page.
Let’s compare some other sites PR:
www.problogger.net : 7/10
cari.com.my : 6/10
Lowyat.net : 5/10
liewcf.com : 5/10
irwan.biz : 4/10
kakiblog.com : 3/10
carigold.com : 3/10
and to make it more fun, please put your PR in comment section. It would be great to see more Malaysian sites got higher PR. You can check your PR (or others’) here checkpagerank.com. Erm.. I’m thinking of making a PR4 club. lol
I wondered whether higher PR gives greater advantage over lower PR. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is about making a balance blend of everything such as keywords, seo-friendly url, images/links description and other small but importance details. So I think PR is just a small portion of it. If you happen to have something to share about SEO tips and tricks, please tell me in the comment section. And it would be great if you could comment about my overall blog design. TIA!

Now I’m always wondering why I’m always at zero. I always thought that my link is somehow cacated. So all it takes to get a higher PR is to get linked by a person with a higher PR?

If your domain is still new, it’ll take some times before it’s ranked by google. In my case, it took months. And yes, link from higher PR site will give your domain better point on google page ranking.

i think what’s more important to blog is its keywords. Basically, if you know what your visitors interested in, you can use more corresponding keywords that will attract the visitors. But the hotter the keyword is, more the competition be.
In my experience the title of the post plus the seo-friendlyurl (which irwan.biz uses for it’s urls) help to define what the page is about. this also help google to place this url in more proper place, thus attracting the right visitors to this blog.
Oh, I’m using IE and the button for your related post is not correctly done. You might want to check that.

jessica, i just checked ur blog. And I’m not sure whether google give pagerank to subdomain like something.wordpress.com. but i think it’s better for you to get your own domain so you won’t stucked up with wordpress domain, which i don’t know it’ll bring you good of bad.
Plus, you can use adsense if you use your own domain + hosting. But, in my own experience, moving domain+hosting could be harder than home moving. haha that’s an exageration.

If you have a nice content on your blog and have a good incoming link, based on my experience, you’ll get a rank. I’ve tried it both using WordPress.com and Blogger.com, now I’m trying out on my own domain.
